Description

A revetment mattress is a cushion-shaped engineering component constructed from a machine-woven, double-twisted hexagonal metal mesh. Its thickness is much smaller than its length and width, allowing for the inclusion of fillers such as rocks, creating a flexible and adaptable protective structure. Revetment mattresses typically range in thickness from 0.15 to 0.3 meters, and sizes can be customized to meet project requirements.

Specifications

Wire materialQ195/Q235 low-carbon steel; tensile strength 350–550 MPa; elongation ≥10%.
Anti-corrosion treatmentHot-dip galvanizing (≥245 g/m²), Galfan (Zn-5%Al), or PVC coating.
Mesh sizeStandard 60×80 mm or 80×100 mm (smaller mesh prevents loss of fine stone fill).
Wire diameterMesh wire 2.2–2.7 mm; edge wire 3.0–3.5 mm.
Mattress thickness0.17 m, 0.20 m, 0.23 m (thinner profiles facilitate easier vegetation penetration).
Overall tensile strength≥35 kN/m
Diaphragm spacingOne every 1 m for lengths ≥2 m; prevents bulging of the fill material.

Product Features

Hydraulic Energy Dissipation and Erosion Resistance

Designed for a maximum permissible flow velocity of ≤4 m/s. The internal stone layer dissipates flow energy, enhances the critical shear resistance of the base, and controls soil loss from the bank slope.

High Open Porosity

Features a structural porosity of approximately 30%, facilitating natural water-soil interaction and heat exchange, which helps maintain the aquatic micro-ecosystem balance.

Rapid Ecological Greening

The voids readily accumulate natural sediment or accept applied soil, allowing for the establishment of surface vegetation (shrubs and grasses) within 3–6 months and seamlessly integrating structural protection with the natural landscape.

Adaptive Flexible Structure

The flexible protection system accommodates differential foundation settlement of ±5%; the monolithic structure eliminates the need for expansion joints, thereby avoiding the cracking risks associated with traditional rigid concrete slope protection.

Application Scenarios

Revetment mattresses are widely used in the following scenarios:

1.River management: Protect riverbeds and bank slopes against erosion, preventing damage to the riverbanks.

2.Reservoir dams: Enhance the stability of dam slopes to prevent landslides and other geological disasters.

3.Highway and railway slopes: Protect roadbed slopes from instability caused by rainwater erosion.

4.Mining area reforestation: Installing revetment mattresses on mining slopes, combined with vegetation restoration, achieves ecological restoration.

Installation Method

Delivery state

Revetment Mattresses are shipped folded/bundled or in rolls; weights are manageable for manual handling or lifting with small machinery.

01

On-site deployment

Unroll or unfold the Revetment Mattress from the top of the slope downwards; no additional assembly is required. Rolls can be laid out directly, while folded/bundled units require untying before being laid flat.

02

Overlapping and Securing

Overlap adjacent units by 200mm and connect them using binding wire or fasteners. Embed the top edge into an anchor trench and secure the slope surface with U-shaped staples.

03

Stone Filling

After unfolding and securing, fill directly with crushed stone or cobbles; spread in layers, ensuring the surface level is slightly higher than the mesh.

04

Soil Covering and Greening

After filling, cover the surface with soil and apply hydroseeding; no curing period is required.

05

Global Supply Capability

Production Capacity and Delivery Assurance

Daily production capacity reaches 80,000–100,000 square meters. With multi-line production capabilities, we can simultaneously manufacture products in various standard thicknesses (e.g., 0.17m, 0.20m, 0.23m) and widths (2–4m), ensuring rapid fulfillment of large-volume, multi-specification orders.

International Project Track Record

Our products are exported to over 30 countries and regions across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and South America. We have participated in major overseas water conservancy and marine engineering projects-such as Mekong River flood control and coastal protection in Saudi Arabia-and are well-versed in diverse national technical standards and customs clearance procedures.

Containerized Transport and Customs Clearance

Products are processed using high-pressure bundling techniques (folded or rolled), reducing transport volume by 50% and significantly optimizing cross-border logistics costs. We provide a complete set of compliant customs clearance documentation (including Certificates of Origin, third-party test reports, etc.) upon shipment.

Technical Services and Quality Assurance

A 10-year quality warranty covers our entire product range. We offer 24/7 remote technical support globally and can dispatch on-site technical supervisors based on project requirements (travel expenses are settled separately in accordance with the project contract).

FAQ

Q: How does it work with geogrids?

A: For weak slopes, a layer of biaxial geogrid (tensile strength ≥20kN/m) can be laid first, followed by the mattress, to enhance overall sliding resistance.

Q: What happens if the mesh size or thickness does not match the contract upon delivery?

A: Test reports are provided with the shipment, and buyers may conduct on-site spot checks. If discrepancies are confirmed, we will unconditionally ship the correct products and cover urgent air freight costs. The same policy applies during the warranty period.

Q: Can the Revetment Mattress be used with geocells or 3D geomatting? What are the results?

A: Yes. For extremely steep or landslide-prone slopes, a layer of geocells (50–100mm height) can be laid first, followed by the mattress and fill material, increasing sliding resistance by approximately 50%. 3D geomatting can be used on the mattress surface to reinforce vegetation growth.
