Description

The Erosion Control Mattress is a flat, double-twisted wire mesh structure. When filled with stone and placed over slopes or riverbeds prone to erosion, it effectively withstands water flow and wave action through flexible conformity and permeable energy dissipation. Simultaneously, the gaps between stones allow for natural soil accumulation and vegetation growth, achieving a blend of structural protection and ecological restoration.

Key Advantages

Energy Dissipation and Impact Resistance

The stone layer effectively dissipates the energy of water flow, converting high-speed impact into gentle seepage. The surface offers an erosion resistance of 4–5 m/s-dozens of times greater than that of bare soil.

Soil Retention and Filtration

Water passes freely through the stones and mesh, while soil particles are effectively retained. The loss rate of fine soil particles is reduced by over 90%, preventing the hollowing out of the slope's soil structure.

Ecological Compatibility

The gaps between stones and areas with surface soil cover support the growth of grasses and shrubs. As plant roots penetrate deeper, they further stabilize the slope, creating a durable, long-term erosion-resistant layer.

Rapid Construction

The revetment mats are transported in rolls or folded sheets; installation simply involves unrolling or unfolding them on-site and filling them with stone. No curing period is required, and results are achieved much faster than with traditional turf slope protection.

Applications

Riparian fluctuation zones: Resists erosion from water level changes; crevices allow for the growth of water-tolerant plants.

Canals and spillways: Prevents water flow from scouring the soil at the channel bed.

Coastal mudflats: Resists erosion from tides and waves; permeable while retaining soil.

Mine tailings ponds: Covers loose tailings to prevent erosion caused by rainfall.

Highway embankment slopes: Integrates protection and greening; serves as an alternative to the "structural framework plus grass planting" method.

Quality Control

For Erosion Control Mattress products, the following are the key stages of quality control:

Raw Material Inspection

Spectroscopic analysis is performed on every batch of steel wire; the zinc coating must be ≥245g/m², and Galfan-coated wire must withstand ≥2000 hours of salt spray testing; non-compliant materials are rejected.

Mesh and Dimension Control

Mesh size and mattress thickness are spot-checked every 2 hours during weaving to ensure uniformity.

Full-Mesh Tensile Testing

One mesh panel is sampled per 500m² and tested for tensile strength according to ASTM A975 (woven type requirement: ≥35kN/m).

Filling Simulation Test

Finished products are randomly selected for stone-filling tests to check lateral expansion (≤3%) and the reinforcement effect of internal diaphragms.

Damage-Proof Packaging

Mattresses are folded, compressed, and strapped with steel bands, then wrapped in anti-rust film; long units are secured with wooden frames to prevent deformation during transport.

Traceability

Each batch includes a test report; labels indicate the batch number; QR codes allow access to raw material, production, and QC records; SGS on-site inspections are supported.

Technical Support

Selection and Design: Recommendations on mattress thickness and anti-corrosion specifications based on flow velocity and slope gradient; provision of stability calculations and CAD installation drawings.

Customization and Prototyping: Customization available for non-standard sizes and irregular shapes; samples ready in 7–10 days; matching geotextiles and anchoring hardware provided.

Construction Guidance: Manuals and video tutorials available in Chinese and English; remote video support or on-site engineering assistance provided.

After-Sales and Repair: Remote troubleshooting during the warranty period; guidance on localized repairs using repair mesh panels, eliminating the need for full replacement.

FAQ

Q: Can it be used in extremely arid regions?

A: Yes. The stone fill does not rely on moisture; even without vegetation, it effectively prevents rain splash erosion and rill erosion on the slope surface. If greening is required, manual irrigation or drought-resistant plants can be used.

Q: How can the Erosion Control Mattress be prevented from sliding down steep slopes?

A: Anchoring is required at the slope crest (buried 0.3–0.5m into the soil), and U-shaped rebar stakes can be used on the slope surface with 1.5m × 1.5m spacing. For slopes steeper than 1:1, it is recommended to stack small gabion baskets in layers.

Q: How are the products packaged for export?

A: The mattresses can be folded into bundles; compression and strapping reduce their volume by half, allowing a 20-foot container to hold approximately 1,500–2,000 m². Each bundle is wrapped in anti-rust film and placed on a pallet; a loading plan is provided.
