Our "gabions Coast" products are specifically designed for marine, coastal, and tidal environments. We typically weave Galfan wire, PVC-coated wire, or 316L stainless steel wire into cages, mattresses, or bags filled with hard stone, creating flexible protective structures capable of withstanding waves, tides, and seawater corrosion. Unlike standard inland gabions, we recognize that the primary challenges for coastal gabions are not merely structural strength, but long-term resistance to chloride-ion corrosion and wave impact.

Product Advantages
Corrosion Resistance
Galfan + PVC-coated wire is used for better protection in coastal environments. The coating passes 3,000 hours or more of salt spray testing, with a design life of over 50 years in splash zones.
01
Wave and Impact Resistance
The flexible structure absorbs part of the wave impact and can adjust to seabed changes caused by scouring. It is less prone to cracking or unraveling under repeated waves and tidal movement.
02
Different Configurations
Gabion cages can be used for toe protection and retaining structures. Mattresses are used for slope coverage, while gabion bags are suitable for underwater placement and temporary emergency works.
03
Environmental Compatibility
The gaps between the stones can collect sediment over time. Salt-tolerant plants can grow above the intertidal zone, and the stone-filled structure can provide shelter for fish and benthic organisms.
04
Construction & Installation Highlights
Tidal Window
Assemble cages and fill with stone during low tide; suspend marine operations during rough wave conditions. Underwater placement: Mesh bags can be filled and sealed onshore before being dropped; the drop height should be limited to ≤2m to prevent bag damage.
Layered filling
Each layer should be ≤300mm thick; the surface layer should be hand-laid with large stones to increase surface roughness and dissipate wave energy.
Connection and reinforcement
Adjacent gabions should be connected using Φ2.7mm stainless steel binding wire, with a spacing of ≤150mm.
Vegetation restoration
Planting troughs can be reserved above the intertidal zone for salt-tolerant plants (such as *Suaeda* or *Kosteletzkya virginica*).

FAQ
Q: Can standard galvanized wire be used for gabions coast?
A: Not recommended. Standard galvanized wire rusts within 5–8 years in the wave-splash zone, leading to high maintenance costs. Galfan + PVC coating or 316L stainless steel should be used instead.
Q: What coastal projects has your company undertaken?
A: Our products have been used in projects such as artificial islands in Dubai and coastal protection along the Red Sea. We export to over 30 countries, are well-versed in technical requirements for marine environments, and can provide project records and test reports.
Q: Is the installation of gabions coast significantly affected by tides?
A: Yes, it is affected. We recommend working during low tide, with an effective daily working window of approximately 4–6 hours. Alternatively, pre-assembled gabions can be lifted and installed as complete units to reduce the time spent working offshore.
