Installation Points
Foundation Treatment: No large-scale leveling is required; simply remove loose stones and weeds. Deep pits can be filled with small gravel for leveling.
Laying Method: Lay from downstream to upstream, with an overlap of ≥0.3m between adjacent mesh mats. The length along the water flow direction should not be too long (≤3m) to allow for adaptation to changes in the riverbed.
Fill Material: Use local stream pebbles of mixed sizes. Lay large stones on the surface layer, rough side up, to increase roughness and dissipate energy.
Securation Measures: Install wooden stakes or steel anchors at the upstream end and bends to prevent flooding. Securely connect the mesh mats with binding wire.
Ecological Passage: Leave an unmeshed strip every 10-15 meters for small fish and amphibians to pass through.

Q: Will the gabion mesh be washed away if the mountain stream flow fluctuates rapidly?
A: With proper design, it will not. Anchoring, overlap length, and the weight of the stones can withstand floods. If the flow velocity is >5m/s, we recommend increasing the gabion thickness or adding anchor bolts.
Q: Do Gabion Baskets for Streams Require Regular Maintenance?
A: Annual post-flood inspections are required. If any stones are lost or the mattresses shift, they should be replenished and reinforced promptly. Overall, maintenance is minimal.
Q: Can Gabion Baskets be Used on Extremely Steep Mountain Streams?
A: For steep slopes, a stepped gabion drop structure is required, with stilling basins at regular intervals. Simple flat laying is not feasible. We can provide specialized designs.
