Description

Vegetated gabion mattress, more commonly known as reinforced Mac mat or green mat in engineering, is a composite ecological protection material that integrates polymer gabion box and three-dimensional geotextile mat (Mac mat).

Parameters

Mesh size80×100mm, 100×120mm
Wire diameterMesh surface 2.2-3.0mm, edge wire thickened 0.5-1.0mm
Corrosion protection processHot-dip galvanized (≥245g/㎡), Galfan, PVC coated
Mat thickness0.17m, 0.23m, 0.30m (0.30m is commonly used)
Tensile strength≥35kN/m
Filling stone particle size100-200mm (local pebbles or crushed stone recommended)
Design lifeApproximately 20-50 years depending on corrosion protection level.

Core advantages

Slope protection and greening are simultaneous

After filling with stones, the porosity of the Vegetated Gabion Mattress is approximately 30%. Soil naturally accumulates and vegetation grows within 3-6 months, eliminating the need for artificial soil covering and sowing.

01

Flexible and adaptable to slope deformation

The double-twisted structure can withstand ±5% foundation settlement without cracking, suitable for soft soil foundations and freeze-thaw zones.

02

Permeable and requires no drainage holes

Water flows freely through the stone joints, eliminating hydrostatic pressure on the slope and eliminating the need for additional drainage facilities.

03

Fast construction and low cost

Factory prefabrication and on-site stone filling shorten the construction period by more than 50% compared to concrete slope protection, and the overall cost is 20%-30% lower.

04

Corrosion resistant and durable

Vegetated Gabion Mattress is hot-dip galvanized or Galfan treated, with a salt spray test ≥2000h and a service life of 20-50 years.

Installation Precautions

Slope leveling: Remove sharp stones and weeds; if necessary, lay a layer of geotextile to prevent fine soil loss.

Matting installation: Unfold and lay the flat mesh mats flat, overlapping or binding adjacent mats.

Stone filling: Use graded crushed stone or pebbles with a particle size of 100-200mm; manually lay the surface layer and mechanically fill the interior. The filling thickness is uniform, with a slightly rough surface.

Surface Treatment: To accelerate vegetation growth, cover the stone surface with 2-3cm of planting soil or spray grass seed; otherwise, natural sedimentation is acceptable.

Fixing: Secure the mesh at the top and bottom of the slope with anchors or pre-embedded steel bars to prevent slippage.

Project Management Capabilities

Planning and Scheduling: Production is scheduled in stages according to the client's construction progress, prioritizing specifications required for key nodes to avoid on-site backlogs or supply disruptions. Regular orders are shipped within 10-15 days; urgent orders can be reduced to 7 days, and multiple batches and destinations can be shipped in batches.

Quality and Traceability: Each product comes with an independent test report (including zinc coating, tensile strength, salt spray data, etc.), and the batch number is marked on the box label. Scanning the code allows you to check the raw material furnace number, production date, and quality inspection records. Third-party on-site inspections are welcome.

On-site Support: For large projects, technical personnel can be dispatched to assist with installation guidance and coordinate solutions to construction issues such as binding connections, filling, and stacking. Remote video training and multilingual installation manuals are provided for overseas projects.

Risk Management: For projects with tight deadlines, reserve dedicated production line capacity; for areas with uncontrollable logistics, assist in selecting reliable freight forwarders and purchasing insurance; for design changes, quickly adjust production plans to minimize downtime losses.

Document Retention: We will create an electronic archive for each completed project, preserving technical drawings, test reports, delivery records, and on-site photos for easy maintenance or expansion and retrieval later.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between Vegetated Gabion Mattress and ordinary Reno Mattress?

A: Vegetated gabion mattresses are a type of Reno mattress application that emphasizes ecological function. Both have the same structure, but vegetated gabion mattresses often use slightly larger mesh openings and slightly larger filler stones to allow more space for plant growth.

Q: Will it be damaged by plant roots?

A: No. Plant roots actually enhance the interlocking between stones, improving slope stability. Roots pass through the mesh without damaging the steel wires.

Q: Are there any special requirements for the filler stones?

A: It is recommended to use rough-surfaced, angular crushed stone to facilitate root attachment. Avoid using smooth river pebbles, as the roots will not easily take hold.
