Description

Large gabion baskets are a hexagonal box structure made of highly corrosion-resistant, high-strength metal wire through a mechanical weaving process. Their height is usually not less than 0.5 meters, and they are larger than ordinary gabion boxes in length, width and other dimensions to meet the needs of large-scale projects.

Installation Points

 

Foundation Treatment

The foundation bearing capacity must be ≥150kPa. A 200-300mm thick crushed stone cushion layer should be laid, and a horizontal geogrid should be installed to enhance anti-slip properties.

Assembly and Connection

Large Gabion Baskets require crane assistance for deployment. The spacing between adjacent gabions should be ≤100mm, and the bottom should be anchored to the foundation.

Infilling Process

Layered filling should be used, with each layer compacted using a small vibratory plate to prevent subsidence due to settlement.

Backfilling Behind the Gabion Baskets

Backfilling behind the gabions must be synchronized with the gabion filling process. Each layer of soil should be filled before adding another gabion; high-volume filling at once is strictly prohibited.

Corner Treatment

Custom-made fan-shaped mesh should be used for corners or curved sections to avoid forced bending on-site, which could deform the mesh.
